FAQs
Downtime; Should I take time off work?
You may notice brusing, warmth, redness, and mild to moderate swelling immediately after the treatment, which can be easily hidden with clothing. Moderate swelling can last around 72 hours, while mild swelling may continue for up to 12 weeks. Most patients are able to resume normal activities immediately after treatment.
When should see results?
Results typically start becoming noticeable within 4 to 6 weeks after your treatment. However, it may take several treatments (usually 3 to 6, spaced about 4 to 6 weeks apart) to achieve the desired outcome. Full results are usually visible about 12 weeks after your final treatment session, as the body gradually eliminates the destroyed fat cells.
How long will my results last?
The results from this treatment are permanant. Kybella causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. After reaching your desired aesthetic, further treatment is not expected.
Does it hurt?
Either a cold pack or numbing cream will be applied prior to treatment. Kybella injections have minimal discomfort and are well tolerated by patients. Most patients will notice a burning sensation several hours after treatment.
What side effects should I expect?
The most common side effects are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness, areas of hardness around the treatment area, trouble swallowing, and nerve injury in the jaw that can temporarily cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness. These are not all of the possible side effects of Kybella. Call your healthcare provider if you develop open sores or drainage from the treatment area or for medical advice about side effects.
Can I get Kybella if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
Kybella injections should not be used while pregnant or breastfeeding.
